BA in English, with Honors (06/04/09)

3.9 GPA. English major, Textual Studies concentration, Political Science minor. Vice President of Sigma Tau Delta. Awarded distinction in major (05/22/09). Recipient of the Olna Fant Cook Award (05/01/08), and the Mary Cass Award for an outstanding critical thesis (05/22/09).

Piano Teaching (08/05–Present)

I teach piano to anywhere from twelve to twenty elementary-aged students each year. Additionally, in June 2007 I taught a four-day piano camp at my house for ten students, several of whom had no musical background. More details at my website.

Substitute Teaching (08/09–05/10)

At Littleton Preparatory Charter School, I was a staff member on-call to fill in for absent teachers of K-8.

Other Teaching

In the 2009–2010 I taught writing to fifteen middle-school-aged children at a homeschool group. As the oldest of seven homeschooled siblings, I have helped teach all grade levels using various curricula. In the 2006-2007 school year, I helped coach a speech & debate club in the NCFCA, a national homeschool league.

At AabrenGroup, I edited technical documents for an information security consulting company. The website is aabren.com.

Roofing (09/09–08/10)

I was an independent contractor (Matthew Watson, LLC) with Weatherproof Roofing.

Dairy Queen (05–09/06, 05–09/07)

In my first summer at the 50s Dairy Queen on Prince and Belleview, I advanced from $5.15 to more than $7 an hour.
